Legacy Letter Writing Workshop · 2 hours · £50
📍 In person · Small groups · Hertfordshire
The people we love most are often the ones we find hardest to speak to directly.
Important words go unsaid. Stories get lost. Feelings stay unspoken for years - sometimes forever.
A legacy letter isn't a legal document. It has no rules, no format, no right or wrong way to write it.
It's simply words that matter, written while you still have the chance to write them.
The different types of legacy letters - and how to choose which one feels right for you right now.
Letters to children or grandchildren - words for their future, written from your heart today.
Letters to someone you've lost - saying what was never said, finding peace through words.
Letters to heal or acknowledge - for relationships that need a bridge, or a gentle closing.
Letters to a younger version of yourself - reflection, wisdom, and the things you wish you'd known.
Guided prompts and reflection exercises to unlock what you most want to say - even if you don't know where to start.
✔️ The Your Final Matters Legacy Letter Writing Framework - a gentle structure for writing different types of letters
✔️ A personalised prompt sheet with questions to unlock what you most want to say
✔️ A first draft or detailed bullet points for at least one letter started in the workshop
✔️ Reflection exercises to continue writing in your own time
✔️ The confidence to keep going - and a clear sense of what to write next
Writing the first draft is just the beginning.
The follow-up session gives you dedicated, ring-fenced time to come back - to continue writing, to share what you've written with the group if you'd like to, or simply to have the space and support to finish what you started.
Some people find the first session unlocks things they didn't expect. The follow-up is where those words find their shape.
Available to book after attending the main workshop or add on when booking Workshop 1.
"This workshop was a detailed, step-by-step guide to preparing your final matters so that when your time comes, you leave clarity, not chaos." - Sim Malin
I'm the founder of Your Final Matters. I created this workshop because I've seen how many important things go unsaid between the people who matter most to each other - not because they don't want to say them, but because they don't know how to start.
A legacy letter is one of the most powerful gifts you can leave behind. It will be read and re-read long after you're gone. This workshop helps you write it.
If you have a question that is not answered below, feel free to reach out for more information here.
Not at all. This workshop is designed for people who don't know where to start - the prompts and framework do the heavy lifting. You bring the feelings; the structure helps you find the words. Grammar, punctuation and spelling are not the focus.
That's entirely up to you. During the session you'll explore the different types of legacy letters and choose the one that feels most important or urgent for you right now. Some people write to a child. Others write to themselves, or to someone they've lost. Others write letters that might never be read or to those they want to rebuild a bridge with.
It can be - and that's welcomed. This is a safe, supported and private space where whatever comes up is fine. There's no pressure to share anything you've written, unless you want to.
No - this is a creative and reflective writing workshop. Nothing you write here is legally binding. For legal documents, I can point you toward the right professionals.
A 90-minute continuation session is available to book - to be taken after the main workshop. You can use it to keep writing, share what you've written with the group, or simply to have dedicated time and support to finish what you started. It costs £40.
